Born in 1973 in Tucson, Arizona, Vanessa Cabrales spent her childhood surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of the Sonoran desert and sandy beaches of Puerto Peñasco, Sonora Mexico with her family. In 1988, she moved back to the United states where she majored in Graphic Design at the Art Center of Tucson and later minored in Animation at The Art Institute of Phoenix, graduating with Honors and Awards for best portfolio in both degrees.
Vanessa’s experiences, travel, nature, culture and introspective evolution have inspired
her to develop her craft that reveals an emotional connection that has a profound impact
on viewers. The precision in every detail, manipulation of graphical perspective and light
makes Cabrales a realist artist that is able to put her emotion and the essence of the object or landscape into every brush stroke.
Cabrales specializes in creating unique photorealistic paintings with oils, graphite and acrylics by utilizing her self-taught technique. She has produced several floral, animal and human portrait commissions and is currently working on a series of images consisting of desert flowers taken from her own backyard. Vanessa lives with her husband and two sons in Cave Creek, Arizona.
